Lenten Reading Group

Lent is one of my favorite seasons in the traditional Christian calendar. In early Christian communities, new converts to Christianity were often baptized on Easter Day.  Lent was the 40-day season before Easter when they learned more about their faith and faith communities.

Like many people, I have often thought of Lent as a time to give something up – like chocolate.  The idea of sacrifice or giving something up helps us to let go of things that may stand between us and a closer relationship to God.  Now I like to take on something new that may help me to feel closer to God and others.  Turns out that studies show that six weeks is the amount of time it takes to break a habit or develop a new one. What an added bonus!

NOT ALONE Reading Group

NOT ALONE Reading Group

This Lent, I’m offering a reading group through my recent book, Not Alone.  See more information at www.NotAloneReadingGroup.com.  Even though Lent doesn’t begin until February 18, I hope you begin to think about what new thing you might do or might take on that can help you be closer to God and others.
